I've painted Roseberry Topping from different viewpoints ('Homeward Bound', 'Roseberry Topping') but this is my favourite. I like the tatty old fence which, with its sharp lines and strong shadows, leads the eye upwards to the summit. Also I think the crisp, spring light gives it a clarity which is attractive.
